my question

Before moving to Sweden, it was very important for me to know if I had all the necessary documents etc. in hand and that I didn't need anything more.
Taking all my documents with me was easy, but I still had one question, that being about house-job. Do I need to have done it before moving here? And the answer is NO. You can apply for verification of degree and for the test and then for the house job (AT) here just with your diploma (degree).

People who have little or no experience, those who have just graduated and also those who are not specialists yet, no matter how long they have worked.. they all need to pass the medical test first. They are treated alike at first, though doing the house job or working in the field might help you during the test and while working here. Because there is no replacement of practical knowledge.

People who have done specialization are not supposed to take the test. They will work for a period of 6 months during which they are observed at every step. If that goes okay, they can begin working here.

All this, of course, applies to people who come from outside the EU/EEA countries. Those who are EU/EEA start working direct. They don't need to "complete" their degree like we do. And language is a secondary issue for them.

    hi, i have a medical degree form the eu (czech) but i am not an eu resident, do i still have to do the medical test or only the learn the language before apply for AT??

      From what I understand if you have EU medical degree you are treated the same with EU citizens (even though you're not EU citizen)

    Hi.I am a medical graduate from non EU and did my specialization in radiology.I would like to work in Sweden.Do I need to give the test or just training in my speciality.It is not clear in the site whether I need to give the test or not.thank you in advance

Working, new rules

It's been a really long time since I posted here. I have been really busy, both with work and in personal life. Work has gone good. It was a rich experience working at a clinic as a doctor. For the most part, I was treated like any other doctor in terms of what patients I get. But I did feel like it would be great to have license after AT/internship/housejob. I got to learn a lot more about the system and practical things. I even have a few patients who really want to just have me as their GP/husläkare. I wish it was easier to begin with AT and go faster to specialization because it's no fun to know so little. Plus temporary underläkare don't get any time from work hours to study (instuderingstid). Anyway, there have been tough periods, but mostly a good experience for a first job. So now it's just to continue applying for AT untill I get it. And to remember to not give up on my dreams despite how long it takes. Even though medicine is a big part of our lives as doctor...

Being a foreigner in Sweden?

One of my teachers said that the struggle of having competition among working people and complaints regarding reduction of available jobs due to immigration is basically a problem of the low educated population. When I gave it a thought, it appeared to be plausible. Studying and working in Sweden, I have never come across any situation where I've been discriminated for being a foreigner or a Muslim. Either I have been very lucky till now or it really is the case that my teacher was talking about. I sometimes think when people meet me and see a brown Muslim they begin thinking all kinds of thoughts, but then stop short in their thought process once they hear I'm a doctor and I will be/ already am a part of work force. It might be different for others. I've come across people saying that you won't get a job due to your last name, you have to work 3 times harder just because you are not from here. My way has been to block out all these voices and continue moving forward ...

The dreaded TULE exam

It's time to write the post I was never looking forward to writing. Because this is about NOT clearing TULE. My worst nightmare has come true. Something I had never expected and still am unable to accept. I have to admit it, I am still shocked, and wake up every day hoping and wishing that all this that happened in the past month was just a bad dream. But it's not. It's true. I did give the exam, and I did not clear it. That makes me feel like a really dumb student, because this kind of failure is something I have never experienced, nor awaited.
